Request Services

When you need support with benefits, pay, time off, or financial transactions, LinkUW provides timely support for employees in participating UW–Madison units

HR services

LinkUW offers benefits, pay, and time off (including paid or unpaid leave) HR support. If you need HR help for something else, or if you are not sure where to start, contact your local HR office.

Finance services

LinkUW offers purchase card (p-card) reconciliation, travel and expense services, purchasing services, and payments support.

  • Online form – using the Jira ticket system.
  • Email help.linkuw@wisc.edu  – use your wisc.edu work email. The email automatically creates a service ticket.
  • In-person meeting – Visit us in-person during walk-in hours.

Online form – Jira ticket system

Employees and vendors are encouraged to use the online form. This option is ideal as it allows you to track your request and provides prompt service. If using the online form for the first time, you will need to set up a LinkUW Jira account.

  1. Visit the LinkUW Online Form site.
  2. Click on “LinkUW Request Form.”
  3. Fill out the form using the following definitions:
    • Raise this request on behalf of
      • This should auto-fill with the requester’s email address
    • What do you need help with?
      • In the first box choose either HR or finance from the drop-down.
      • In the second box choose the service you are requesting help with. If you do not know, select unknown.
    • Reporting Division
      • Select the school, college, or division you report to/work in from the drop-down. Select the division representing your home unit.
      • If you do not see your division listed, please contact your local HR or finance lead.
    • Request Summary
      • Enter a short description of the request, no more than one sentence long.
    • Request Detail
    • Attachment (optional)
    • Contact Phone (optional)
      • If you would like to add your phone number, enter it as xxx-xxx-xxxx.
  4. Click the “Send” button to submit the request to LinkUW. You will receive a confirmation email with your LinkUW ticket number shortly after you submit your request.

  1. Visit the LinkUW Online Form site.
  2. Click on the Profile and Settings button in the upper right corner.
  3. Click “Requests.” You will be able to see all your submitted requests.
  4. Click “Show details” for additional information, such as request status.

The first time you fill out the LinkUW Online Form, you will be prompted to create a new LinkUW-specific Jira account. If you have already Jira account, it will not work with LinkUW.

Note: This is not connected to your Wisc ID, so when your NetID password changes, this password will not change. Please use your wisc.edu email address to sign up.

  1. Visit the LinkUW Customer Portal.
  2. Enter your wisc.edu email address to begin. Then click the “next” button.
  3. You will then be prompted to click the “sign up” button. Click the button.
  4. A “set password” link will be sent to the email address you used in step one.
  5. Click on the “set password” link in your email. You will be redirected to a page to create a password.
  6. Add your full name. Create a password that you can remember. Remember, this password will not change if you change your NetID password. Click the “Set password” button.
  7. Once you complete this step, you will have an active Link Jira account and will have the ability to send requests to LinkUW using the online form.
  8. When compete, you will be redirected to the LinkUW Customer Portal. From here, click on the “LinkUW Request Form” to submit a request.

In the future, to sign into your LinkUW Jira account, you will use the email address and password you selected in the steps listed above.

Visit us during walk-in hours

LinkUW staff members have dedicated time to provide in-person help for your HR and finance needs. Visit us during these hours to meet face-to-face.

  • HR hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Finance hours: Tuesdays only from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

LinkUW Hours

Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

LinkUW is on the 5th floor. Access from the east elevator (nearest E. Campus Mall) is closest to LinkUW. If you use the west elevator (by the Welcome Center and nearest Park Street), head to the end of the hallway and the LinkUW space is on the right.

The gated lot allows for paid visitor parking.
Accessible (disabled) parking spots are available.

Bus

LinkUW is not far off the fare-free UW campus bus route (Route 80). All Metro Transit buses, including UW campus routes, are kneeling buses capable of transporting wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

Accessible circulator shuttle

Door-to-door transportation between UW campus buildings for university students and employees with mobility disabilities and other mobility issues, whether permanent or temporary. Free of charge.
